GLAUDI by Johana Hernandez is an avant-garde collection that specializes in Haute Couture dresses and bridal, inspired by women who are in the spotlight, women who stand out for their success and their style.
Johana Hernandez is a Los Angeles-based Haute Couture fashion designer. In 2013, she starred in NBC’s designer competition series, Fashion Star. She won the FIAT designer campaign and was mentored by Nichole Richie.
She was nominated in 2014 by PEOPLE magazine en Español’s 25 Most Powerful Women, Latina Magazine’s 30 Favorite Stars under 30 & Designers on the Rise, and Alegria Magazine’s 10 Most Influential Latinas in Los Angeles.
These accolades didn’t come easy; Johana’s hard work and sacrifice took her from humble beginnings to international success with GLAUDI.
Johana was born in Compton, California. As a child, she spent her time in sweatshops with her parents, who worked long hours to make ends meet, sewing for brands like Guess, Calvin Klein and Gap. Johana’s passion for clothes and fashion design grew.
At 19, she earned her first job as head designer and her first collection was featured in The Wall Street Journal. At 22 she became head designer for Seven7 Jeans, designing for all categories, including plus size. She has also designed for Isaac Mizrahi Jeans, Elie Tahari, the Hannah Montana license, the Disney license and more. At the age of 24, Johana launched her own collection, GLAUDI by Johana Hernandez. She created the collection to raise funds through fashion events and sales, for kids suffering from poverty in Latin America. She helped fund orphanages and the building of a school in her parents’ home country, El Salvador. Through the dream of helping others, GLAUDI now has a strong celebrity following, designing for elite red carpets and world celebrity tours. GLAUDI gowns have won ‘Best Dressed’ at the Latin Grammys, worn by Latin pop star Paulina Rubio. She also designed for Gloria Trevi, Princess Theodora of Greece, Lucero and many others.
In 2016, Johana opened GLAUDI’s first flagship store in Downey, California. Her collection can also be found at www.glaudicollection.com.
